v2.0.5

Released 2026-10-26. Changes since v2.0.4.

  • Restored native Intel Mac builds across Electrobun and its dependency chain: zig-asar, zig-bsdiff, zig-zstd, Electrobun’s Dawn and JavaScriptCore forks, Cottontail, and Hutch. The release includes a paired Intel Hutch archive that the npm bootstrap downloads automatically, so a private fork or separate toolchain is not required.
  • Intel x64 and Apple Silicon ARM64 applications both target macOS 14 or later. Build on the matching native architecture; cross-compiling from Apple Silicon to Intel is not supported. Native Intel CI runners can build and test Intel releases.
  • Release validation now covers all six operating-system/architecture targets, including Intel builds, VM tests, macOS signing and notarization, and public npm-package, template, and desktop acceptance.
Component Version
Hutch 0.28.2
Build-time and optional app Cottontail 0.7.3
Default app and Hutch script Bun 1.4.4
Go main-process compiler 1.26.10
Rust main-process compiler 1.99.1
Node used by build and CI tooling 24.22.1

The application main process and Hutch’s script runner remain independent selections. Hutch’s matching-version Bun lookup now works when Bun is already on PATH.

  • Updated bundled Bun to 1.4.4 to reject certificate chains containing compromised eMudhra/emSign public keys. The paired Hutch toolchain also uses this version for scripts and package operations. This protects apps that select Bun as their main process. See the upstream fix.
  • Hardened the optional Cottontail runtime’s native TLS verification to reject all eight compromised public keys, including cross-signed certificates and explicitly trusted chains. Resumed TLS sessions and session tickets must satisfy the same policy. Updated its OpenSSL dependencies, including 3.6.5 on macOS and Windows and security patch requirements for Linux system builds.
  • Patched certificate verification in Hutch’s native HTTP client and the managed and vendored Zig toolchains used for builds and dependency downloads. Setup and build checks reject missing or incomplete certificate protections.
  • Updated the Go main-process toolchain to 1.26.10, including Go’s certificate-authority mitigation. Updated Node used by build and CI tooling to 24.22.1, whose security release also addresses the eMudhra certificate compromise.
  • Added regression checks that reject compromised certificate chains while accepting unrelated valid certificates, including coverage for native TLS and the managed Bun runtime.

CEF’s permanent certificate blocklist fix will follow in a separate update when upstream prebuilt binaries include it. System webviews continue to use operating-system certificate trust.

  • Updated bundled CEF to 156.0.7+g47dbc1d / Chromium 156.0.8078.17 across all six targets using the existing upstream prebuilt binaries. The certificate limitation above still applies to this CEF version.
  • Updated starter framework dependencies, including the patched Svelte release, and refreshed the Angular, Vite, and Tailwind dependency trees.
  • Kept Odin dev-2026-07a for Intel support and the existing deployment target. The pinned Apple Silicon Odin compiler itself requires macOS 15 or later; this does not raise the application’s macOS 14 minimum.

Install the stable npm release and run the app:

Terminal window
npm install --save-dev [email protected]
npx electrobun dev

Update any explicit electrobun.version in hutch.config.ts to 2.0.5 too. An older // @hutch pragma also overrides the npm defaults: update it to cli=0.28.2 cottontail=0.7.3, or remove it to use the npm release’s paired versions. Direct Hutch users can run hutch upgrade before initializing a project. See the migration guide.
