Account, sync, and privacy
Dash Desktop works locally without an account. A Dash Cloud account connects your devices, enables Dash Web, and stores supported account content. Open account settings to sign in, verify your email, manage devices, or change your plan.
What sync saves
Section titled “What sync saves”Supported account content is encrypted on an authorized client before upload. This includes account notes, explicitly saved cloud lenses, private machine and workspace information, and supported synced settings. The service still receives the metadata needed to synchronize records, such as identifiers, sizes, revisions, and timestamps.
Account sync is not a full backup of your computer. It does not automatically back up project files, repositories, browser profiles, local model files, terminal sessions, or agent conversation logs. Live tabs and pane sizes are stored locally. Use your own backups for the work and local data you want to preserve.
Save your recovery key
Section titled “Save your recovery key”When Dash shows Save your recovery key, store it somewhere safe, such as a password manager, then choose I’ve saved my recovery key. The key is shown only once.
Use Change password in account security when you know your current password. If you forget your password, Forgot password? starts an email reset. Resetting the login password alone cannot decrypt your existing account data: after the reset, enter your new login password and saved recovery key to recover it.
If you lose both the password that protected the data and the recovery key, encrypted account data cannot be recovered through an ordinary password reset.
Devices and local copies
Section titled “Devices and local copies”In Signed-in Devices, use Revoke access to remove a Desktop installation you no longer want connected. Confirm using your password or recovery key. Revocation prevents future access but cannot erase data or keys that device has already copied.
Account encryption does not mean every file or cache on an authorized computer is encrypted with your Dash password. Protect the computer and browser profile that can open your account.
Understand the connection boundary
Section titled “Understand the connection boundary”Ordinary supported traffic between Dash clients is encrypted between those clients, even when routed through Dash Relay. The service can still process connection and usage metadata.
Relay MCP is different: Dash’s hosted endpoint and the external service can read the tool requests and results you authorize. Local MCP avoids that hosted MCP endpoint, while still giving its authorized client access to the results. See Connect an assistant with MCP before enabling either connection.
Manage or cancel a subscription
Section titled “Manage or cancel a subscription”The Subscription section shows your current plan. Use Manage subscription to open billing management, or Cancel plan to review and confirm cancellation.
Cancellation stops renewal. Paid Pro features remain available until the end of the current billing period, and your account and saved data remain available on the Free plan. The confirmation shows the applicable end date when available.
Delete your account
Section titled “Delete your account”Use Delete account in account settings, review the confirmation, and enter your account password. Deletion is permanent and removes the account and its encrypted cloud data, including notes, saved lenses, and synced settings.
Account deletion also cancels an active Pro subscription and ends paid access immediately. Local project files, browser profiles, third-party accounts, and independent backups remain on your devices. Existing cached copies and content already received by others may also remain.
