Getting started

  1. Open the Dash download page.
  2. Choose the download for your operating system and processor. Available builds include macOS on Apple silicon, Windows x64 and ARM64, and Linux x64 and ARM64.
  3. Open the downloaded disk image or extract the installer archive, then run the included installer.
  4. Launch Dash and review the terms shown on first launch.

You can start using local projects, terminals, models, and other local tools without a Dash Cloud account. Downloads, updates, websites, and integrations you use can still require an internet connection.

Start with Projects, slates, and lenses to open a folder and arrange your workspace.

Open dash.blackboard.sh and sign in to a Dash Cloud account. Dash Web requires an account.

To work with a computer’s files, terminals, or installed models, run Dash Desktop on that computer and sign in to the same account. Keep the computer awake and Dash running. A browser session does not install or run those tools on your phone or browser device.

Desktop and Web share many views, but some features depend on the host. Embedded browser tabs run on their Desktop machine; remote browser viewing is not currently available. See Remote machines and terminals.

Open account settings to sign in or create an account. During account setup, save the recovery key somewhere safe, such as a password manager, before confirming that you have saved it. The key is needed to recover encrypted account data if you reset a forgotten password.

Use the same account on each Desktop installation and in Dash Web. Available machines appear in the sidebar. Account verification and subscription controls are also in account settings.

When an update is available, Dash Desktop shows an update control in the top bar. It reports download progress and shows Restart to Update when the update is ready. Save your work before restarting. If an update fails, use Retry Update.

You can also download the current installer from the download page. Updates keep the architecture of your installed build. To switch from an x64 installation to ARM64, install the ARM64 download for your platform.
